I swear it feels like I just posted about those delicious pumpkin muffins a few days ago. But nope, it has been a good two and a half weeks. Sorry! Well I don't have many pictures for this post, but I did want to share with you this decadent cake I made for my friend, Kaitlin, for her 21st birthday. It was so easy, but looks pretty intricate because of all of the toppings. I call this cake "Death by Chocolate", and I think you can see why!
I didn't take any pictures of the construction of this cake, but I will explain it to you without. It really is simple! I baked a box cake in two 9 in round pans. Made buttercream frosting (I made double the amount of the recipe and it was perfect!) and iced the tops and sides of the cakes. Next, use semi-sweet chocolate chips and cover the edges of the cake by sticking them to the icing. Sprinkle a few chips on the top and then add pieces of your favorite chocolate candies. I used Reeses, Kit-Kat, and Hershey's, but any chocolate candy would work. Finally, add 2 tsp. vegetable oil to 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and melt in the microwave. Drizzle over the top of the cake. I also put it on the edges of the cake and let it run down the sides for a fun look. And that's it. That is all the chocolate it takes. I didn't get to try this cake (since it was a gift), but I hear it tasted pretty darn good. How could it not right?!
Well, that's about all I've got for today. I hope to whip up something tasty this week though as I only have 1 test! wahooo! I will leave you with one last thought......
